Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and offers a variety of routes to climb. Which route is best depends on individual preferences, previous trekking experience and the time of year. Beginners are recommended the Lemosho, Rongai and Marangu routes, while Umbwe and Marangu are suitable for those with more trekking experience. The Marangu route, also known as the Coca-Cola route, is the most direct route to the summit and has the advantage of being able to stay in mountain huts with comfortable mattresses and running tap water, making it the ideal route for those seeking luxury living.
